Can You Install Reclaimed Parquet Blocks?
Hello,
I have purchased some reclaimed parquet flooring blocks from the internet and I would like to have them installed in my living room - do you provide this service? Please note that they do have some blacks resin on the back. Thank you.

Hi and thank you for your question regarding installation of reclaimed parquet flooring.
While we are perfectly capable and experienced in fitting all types of parquet flooring, we always recommend the installation of new, rather than reclaimed parquet blocks. The reason behind this is that reclaimed blocks can be difficult to prepare to a state in which they have good / compatible geometry for installation - it may take significant time and effrot to select and clean blocks from any residue such as adhesives or bitumen. When this is required and time consuming, it may add to the cost of the service. The geometry of the blocks is important for patterns like herringbone, basket weaves or even for squares - even with a great effort in selection, the blocks ending up in the installation will not have ideal geometry, which can result deeper than usual sanding and excessive gap filling for a promissing finishing results.
In addition, buyers of reclaimed blocks should consider if these blocks were properly stored prior to laying. Buying and installing timber with high moisture levels, can result faults after the installation or first change of season.
Therefore, we recommend the purchase of new parquet blocks as this will speed up the process and guarantees appealing final results. Please do not hesitate to contat us should you require a free quotation for new parquet floor fitting.
